Due to the depletion of non-renewable energy sources and the damage caused by fossil fuels to the environment, the number of researches on renewable energy sources and energy conversions has increased in recent years. The fact that there are many renewable energy sources in different numbers and they have not yet been fully integrated into life in the world makes the studies in these areas very valuable.
Among the renewable energy sources, solar energy stands out as it is almost unlimited and it is the most amount among other renewable energy sources. In addition to the convertibility of solar energy into heat, photons from the sun can be converted into electrical energy with photovoltaic devices called solar cells. Solar cells, which have different designs according to the materials used and their usage areas, are divided into 3 generations and our research group is working on 3rd generation solar cells, including dye sensitive solar cells (DSSC).
